So. My latest thing is kind of weird. Since I tend to not have a social life lately, I’ve been sort of fixated on trying to find makeup that works for me and experimenting with what I’ve got and maybe even buying some new things to try. I’ve been trying to keep it cheap. But so far, nothing inexpensive quite cuts it for my über sensitive, fair skin as far as foundation and concealer go.
I saw this new Almay “Smart Shade” makeup today. The box claims it’s supposed to “instantly transform” to your ideal shade. So rather than putz around with my money and buy the wrong shade again, I decided to give it a go.
Brought it home and tried it out. First off, it kind of startled me that when I squeezed it out of the bottle, it comes out looking a bit like dirty lotion or a strange type of chocolate malt powder. Sort of colored like Ovaltine… Off-white-ish with a tint of beige and little bitty blue specks of something unknown….
I dabbed it on in places and proceeded to “rub it in with fingertips and blend thoroughly.” It suddenly changed!!!! Freaky stuff…
But it changed a bit too dark at first. It went super dark tan and even orange. In my head I screamed “OMG OH NO IT’S MAKING ME LOOK LIKE SNOOKI!!!!” DDDD8
I looked a bit like a cheeto for a while.
Thankfully it appears to have evened out. Lol. Glad I tried it before frantically doing last minute makeup in my car on my way to class in the morning. Fashion faux pas averted. :P
